This presentation reviews definitions of diversity, culture, and cultural competency.  It presents conceptual framework for cultural competency using the work of Terry Cross and others.  It presents a public health preparedness model for reaching Limited English Proficient (LEP) communities.  It identifies the key components in culturally competent public health preparedness planning and describes the process of community-based participation in public health preparedness planning.
